AHAA Living: Blog Klink Coffee Bulldog

This Coffee is a Saint!

“DRINK KLINK. CHANGE LIVES.” That’s what it says on KLINK™’s coffee bean packaging and on their travel mugs. Sounds like what all the other ethical coffee bean producers are selling, so we thought we’d dig deep and ask the KLINK team some questions.

Q. What sets KLINK Coffee apart from many of the other eco/green/consciously-harvested coffee producers?

A. KLINK Coffee is a social enterprise. A social enterprise is a non-profit organization that employs business methods and practices to create training opportunities and employment for low-income and marginalized individuals.

Q. Your tag line [DRINK KLINK. CHANGE LIVES.] seems to speak volumes. How does drinking your coffee change lives?

A. KLINK Coffee changes the lives of people leaving prison by providing them with jobs, skill development and training. We help them find a good job, so that they can get off to a good start. In the long term it makes the individuals and their families stronger, and our communities safer.

Q. How does KLINK connect with those individuals leaving prison?

A. KLINK is sponsored by St. Leonard’s Society of Toronto, an internationally recognized leader in providing transition services for people who want to reintegrate into society. Toronto’s St. Leonard’s is a not-for-profit, non-religious charitable organization founded in 1979.

Q. Can you tell us about the actual coffee beans?

A. KLINK Coffee is roasted in partnership with Reunion Island, Canada’s “greenest” coffee roaster. Reunion Island provides organic, Fair Trade Certified and Rainforest Alliance Certified coffees. So, all KLINK Coffee sold is Rainforest Alliance Certified (except for the K-Cups).

Q. WOW! Organic, Fair Trade, Rainforest Alliance Certification, plus it helps marginalized people reintegrate into the working world?! That is amazing! Where can we buy KLINK Coffee?

A. Connect with KLINK directly by calling 1 855 355 5465 or 647 348 2361, or email coffee@klinkcoffee.com. You can drop by KLINK’s Toronto Danforth area headquarters and pick up your order, or the folks at KLINK can deliver it to you. Alternatively, you can order online via Cultured Coffee Bean, Canada’s largest online coffee retailer.

Coffee can be purchased in portion packs, 3/4 lb or 2 lb bags of ground or whole bean. For more information and to keep up with new KLINK initiatives, visit http://www.klinkcoffee.com.
