Secrets of a Cycling Champ
Are you absolutely, 100%, determined to become a champion of cycling?
Well then, here’s your chance.
You can either make a lasting donation, sponsor a seat, or purchase a virtual plank that will assist in the completion of the Mattamy National Cycling Centre (Milton Velodrome).
If you’re not familiar with this state-of-the-art space, scheduled to open in the fall of 2014, here are some quick specs on the velodrome itself:
- a 250-metre oval cycling track
- features 1500 permanent seats, with the capacity to add 1000 more seats during Games-time
- sole facility of its kind in Canada, and only the second UCI-regulated, indoor velodrome in North America
The facility will also be home to additional recreational spaces, including:
- fitness centre
- group fitness studio, suitable for fitness, yoga, pilates
- walking/jogging track (300 metres)
- three gymnasium courts, suitable for basketball, volleyball, badminton, group events and trade shows
- retail bike shop
- bike rentals
- multi-purpose rooms
In addition to Games-time elite level cycling, programming and track usage opportunities will be available for cycling enthusiasts of all ages and skill levels, including:
- off-season endurance training for road cyclists
- introductory-level lessons for all ages
- family-friendly programs
- memberships for drop-in cycling track time
- race nights for all ages and abilities
- bike and equipment rentals/repairs
- CompuTrainers
We can not stress enough that this opportunity is completely time-sensitive. We’re not trying to be telemarketer-pushy, it’s simply a matter of first come, first served. There are only 1500 seats available for sponsorship at $250 each; you can brand with any name you like – yours, your company, your family, or brand it with an inside joke from your cycling club! Seats are going fast! So act now, or you’re sure to come down with a serious case of sponsored-seat envy.
There are a limited number of virtual planks available; for just $25 your name or dedication will live forever featured prominently in the Centre’s lobby, as well as on the website.
To date, $12.8 million has been raised and now it’s down to the remaining $1.2 million.
If you’ve sponsored some seats, bought a bunch of planks, and you still want to do more, consider registering for the Paris to Ancaster Bicycle Race’s ‘Olympic Experience VIP’, as proceeds will be donated to the Milton Pan Am Velodrome Fund. Again, hurry on this too, as there were only 250 spots offered, and more than 100 have been sold.
